Port Talbot Weekend 5th - 7th February 2016 - UPDATE - KARL'S DANCE 'SLIP AWAY' NOW ADDED!

A few weekends ago some of my line dance friends went on a Line Dance weekend to Port Talbot which was hosted by Crystal Boot Award Winner Dave Baycroft and they were good enough to let me know the dances they were taught.

Special thanks to Linda Milne & Jackie Barber for providing the details below xxx

Line Dance weekends are a great way of seeing what is likely to be popular in the line dance charts in the coming months as many instructors (including my own) go to these weekends learn the dances and then bring back the ones they enjoy to teach in class. If they are popular these in turn take off, end up in the line dance charts and go on to enjoy significant success.

The line dance weekend featured 2 main choreographers, Karl-Harry Winson (see previous post on recent workshop I attended of his) and the lovely Dee Musk. Dave Baycroft also taught a few dances over the weekend as well which are all expected to do well in the coming months.

So what did the dancers learn? See below for scripts and details.

Karl-Harry Winson's dances:

Hey Elvis - 32 Count, 4 wall, improver dance to a track of the same name by either Bryan Adams or Billy Ray Cyrus Pop That Lock - 64 Count, 4 wall, intermediate dance to a track of the same name by Adam Lambert
Stitches - 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate line dance to a track of the same name by Shawn Mendes.

NB. For full reviews of the above dances including videos please see my previous blog post by clicking here as they were previously taught at the Karl-Harry Winson workshop I attended in Abingdon

Slip Away - unfortunately the script is not yet available and has not been posted on either copperknob or linedancer, NOW AVAILABLE!!! I understand that this is a 64 count, 2 wall, lower improver level line dance which was choreographed by Karl & Daniel Whittaker to 'Never let her slip away' by Bill Crawford.

Dee Musk's dances:

Hey Hey Allelujah
32 count, 4 wall, improver dance to a track of the same name by Rachel Platten. This dance was choreographed by Rob Fowler, Dee Musk, Shelly Guichard & Conor McVeigh

Making History

32 count, 2 wall intermediate dance to 'History' by One Direction. This dance was choreographed by Simon Ward, Dee Musk and Craig Bennett. This is Craig's final dance and I was fortunate to have learnt this one at our class this week. I found starting in the right place quite tricky and until the beat kicked in properly I was second guessing whether I was dancing it correctly but once it got going I really liked this as the dance goes really well to the music and the restarts are relatively straight forward.

Sweet Lovin'
64 count, 2 wall, intermediate dance to a track of the same name by Sigala ft Bryn Christopher.

Dances taught by Dave Baycroft:
Overloading
by Gary O'Reilly (big dance at the CBA's) A 64 count 2 wall, Intermediate dance to 'Overload' by Life of Dillon.

About Feelings

by Ria Vos, A 32 count, 2 wall intermediate dance to 'Mixed Drink About Feelings' by Eric Church

We Wanna Dance

by Maggie Gallagher. A 48 Count, 4 wall, Intermediate Dance to 'We Wanna' by Alexandra Stan & Inna ft. Daddy Yankee.

Cake by the Ocean

by Scott Blevins. A 96 Count, 4 wall, Intermediate (Phrased) dance to a track of the same name by DNCE. Scott's own video on youtube has been blocked :-( otherwise see video below by Yvonne and her students.
